On March 16 in Arlington, Texas, two of the top pound for pound fighters in the world will compete for the IBF welterweight championship. Both Errol Spence Jr. and Mikey Garcia are undefeated champions in the prime of their careers. While these two humble warriors don't provide fodder for great YouTube videos or social media clips, what they do provide is a highly anticipated matchup that boxing fans are eager to witness in a few weeks. One thing will be for certain. It will be impossible for this fight to disappoint.
Garcia, the current WBC lightweight champion is moving up two weight classes in an attempt to win a world title in a fifth weight class. This is the true definition of a champion who is continually pushing himself to reach new heights. With 39 victories under his belt and 30 of those wins ending in a knockout, Garcia has shown he can adapt and do what is necessary against a variety of top-level opponents.
Spence Jr. on the other hand, the IBF champion, has barely been challenged in his professional career spanning 24 fights with 21 of those fights ending by knockout. Since winning the world title in Sheffield, England, in 2017 against Kel Brook by knockout, Spence Jr. has fought twice, defeating former super lightweight champion Lamont Peterson who quit during their fight after being battered by Spence Jr. and then Carlos Ocampo who succumbed to a Spence Jr. body blow that ended in the first round. Spence Jr. has simply overwhelmed his opposition during every step of his career. Interestingly enough, I'm not sure any of the other welterweight champions truly want to fight Spence Jr. right now. I take that back. I think Terence Crawford would jump at the opportunity, but promotional reasons seem to make this fight something fight fans won't see for quite some time, if at all.

Over the past few days in Los Angeles and Arlington, both Spence Jr. and Garcia showed why they are class acts and admired by the fans and boxing insiders.
